Since WSN may consist of tens, hundreds, or thousands of sensors, it helps to achieve fault tolerant, reliable, and accurate sensor network covering a wider region [2].

Given these capabilities, WSN have recently stood out as a platform on which to deploy different kinds of important smart city applications [3, 4], such as power systems [5, 6], transportation and roadside applications [7, 8], healthcare [9, 10], and air pollution monitoring [11].

The recent advances in sensing and communication technologies such as wireless sensor networks (WSN) have enabled low-priced distributed monitoring systems that are the foundation of smart cities.

These advances are also helping to monitor smart cities and making our living environments workable.

However, sensor nodes are constrained in energy supply if they have no constant power supply.Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are equipped with computing, sensing, and wireless communication capabilities.Moreover, due to their small size and low cost, sensors are normally deployed in different environments, where they can collaborate among themselves to form a special sensor network.Simulation results show that the EEUCLC mechanism enhanced the energy balance and prolonged the network lifetime compared to other related protocols.As cities come to be more and more crowded, public safety, efficient transport, preserving energy, lessening expenses, and improving the quality of life are becoming indispensable.Distributed Dynamic Clustering Protocol (DDCP) has been proposed to allow all the nodes to take part in the cluster formation scheme and data transmission process.This protocol consists of a cluster-head selection algorithm, a cluster formation scheme and a routing algorithm for the data transmission between cluster-heads and the base station.The base station may be placed at a nearby location of the driver.The received data is processed to take a decision when to trigger the warning tone.All the sensor nodes present in the network takes part in the cluster-head selection process.Staggered Clustering Protocol (SCP) has been proposed to develop a new energy e_cient clustering protocol for WSN.
